Mark & Megan
Being parents will be one of the greatest joys of our lives. We cannot wait to be parents and give a child a loving, caring, and attentive home. Thank you for considering us as potential parents to your child. We know you have many options and important decisions, and we would love to be considered. We are excited about completing our family through adoption.
Our Promise to You
Our promise to you is that we will give your child unconditional love from day one. We cannot wait to be a child's support system, be involved in their activities, and watch their growth. Our goal is to be a listening ear to the child and build a relationship where they feel comfortable talking to us about whatever they are facing. We hope to create a loving and supportive environment so a child can blossom. We look forward to reading them lots of books, helping them with homework, and ensuring they have the resources necessary to soar to great academic heights. We understand what it is like to struggle with learning and will be patient with them. We will have the means to let the child try out whatever activities and sports they pursue and cannot wait to cheer them on the sidelines.
Every day with a child is not easy, but we will always approach our parenting with kindness at the forefront. We understand that children have feelings that they may not be able to express and will listen earnestly and compassionately.
We cannot wait to meet you and ensure a future child knows where they came from and how brave their first parent(s) were in pursuing adoption. We promise to communicate as much as possible and share updates. We would be willing to make trips when possible and share pictures regularly.
Qualities We Love, Admire and Respect in Each Other
Megan About Mark: Mark is so patient, and his calmness often helps me calm down and take time to put things into perspective. He is thoughtful in everything he does and holds great pride in his work. I have never met someone who carries themself with such integrity. I love that he is always ready to give a hug after a hard day and watches after our dog with such care and affection. I am so lucky to have him as a partner; I know he will be such a caring father.
Mark About Megan: Megan is fun to be around and is always there to share a laugh or a shoulder to cry on. I love bouncing ideas off of Megan and love hearing her excitement, and I appreciate knowing when an idea is a terrible one. Megan helps me to keep level-headed and pushes me to grow in all aspects of my life. Megan loves being around kids and shows deep curiosity and interest in their activities. She will make a great mom.
Our Family Traditions
Megan's family spends every summer at a lake in Northern New York. During that time, there are countless large dinner gatherings (sometimes as large as 50 people), boating, board or card games, and wiffleball in the front yard. We are fortunate to have this "home away from home" and look forward to going yearly. Megan can't wait to teach a child to love the water as much as she does. Megan taught kids how to swim and waterski at a local summer camp in college and was a lifeguard in high school.
We love kayaking and hiking the local mountains while visiting the family home in New York. We always go up for the Fourth of July for a big boat parade followed by a party at a family friend's house. Megan's family settled in the area in the 1800s, so she has deep roots and connections to the land and people. This is also where we got married!
Throughout the year, we love to decorate our house and enjoy cooking special meals to match the season. We enjoy watching cooking shows together and eating out to experience and celebrate different culinary traditions. The neighborhood loves getting together for Halloween to celebrate, and we can't wait to crave pumpkins with a future child.

Our House and Neighborhood
We live on a quiet street right down the street from an elementary school, and the neighborhood has a ton of trees and beautiful scenery. We are surrounded by young families and kids playing on a nearby cul-de-sac. We specifically picked this home with a kid in mind. Our home backs up to a park, where several trails lead to soccer fields, playgrounds, and a lake. It is incredibly peaceful, considering we are only miles from the D.C. border. There is a community pool that would be a great way to spend the hot summer days, and we are close to several parks and recreation centers.
Our ranch-style home is very cozy and comfortable. While it may look small from the outside, it has four bedrooms and three bathrooms, so often, with the two of us, it seems too large! We have a large garden and yard, which Megan loves to spend time in, and can't wait to "get in the dirt" and see a child enjoy it. We have spent the last few years renovating the house to make it our home, and we see us staying here for a long time.
Our Extended Families
We both grew up in the D.C. metro area. Both of our immediate families live within 50 minutes of our house. We are close to our families, and the child would spend significant time with them regularly. Megan has a single older sister who cannot wait to be the "cool aunt," while Mark's brother would love to take his niece or nephew to a baseball game. The child will be the first grandchild on both sides of the family, so they are sure to be spoiled! Megan comes from a large extended family that makes get-togethers fun and full of laughter.
Even though there are no nieces and nephews via immediate family, we have become aunts and uncles to our best friend's kids. We love spending time with our friends and their kids; we cannot wait for a future child to have playdates and trips with them.
This child will be surrounded by love and attention. We love hosting family and friends in our large backyard, playing games like bocce or cornhole, and grilling. We love decorating the house for fall, Thanksgiving, Christmas, and birthdays.
Our dog, Abby, brings us joy and comfort. We love taking her for walks and look forward to future walks with a stroller to push around. Abby is also great with kids, having spent time with small cousins and friends. Our family and friends have been so supportive during this process. They cannot wait to meet a future child.
From Us to You
We cannot wait to be parents. We thank you for allowing us to share a little bit about ourselves. It is impossible to imagine how difficult this decision is for you. We are so thankful for considering us as your child's potential adoptive parents.
We have been married for four years, together for almost nine, and have a strong relationship and foundation and plan to build the child's character by leading by example in our own lives. We are excited about what the future holds and to expand our family. We will give the child the resources they need to succeed and thrive. Megan can't wait to attend "back to school nights" and cheer a child on at a school sport, while Mark is excited to be a listening ear and help them do their homework. We want to nurture the child's sense of self-esteem, exposing them to different activities so that they can identify their interests and passions. Our goal is to love a child fully and raise a happy and healthy person.
We have wonderful friends and family who support us through this process. Our parents live close by, and we get to celebrate and spend quality time with them. We cannot wait to bring a child into our loving extended family and make more memories. This child will be surrounded by encouragement, love, compassion, and laughter.
Mark is a passionate, caring, patient human who loves hosting family and friends. He works in cyber security and loves to cook. He loves cooking a shepherd's pie, fajitas, and steak. He recently bought a pellet grill and cannot wait to use it. Megan is a kind, funny, and loving person who deeply cares about people. She works for a non-profit focused on environmental justice. Megan can't wait for a child to run around the yard with and watch their imaginations flourish.
We bought our home in the suburbs of Maryland with a family in mind about four years ago. Since buying the house, we have made the house a home by updating, maintaining, and decorating to our style. We live down the street from an Elementary School and cannot wait to become loving parents to a child. We love to go for walks with our dog in our neighborhood, host BBQs in our backyard, and spend time with family and friends. Adoption is something we both have some familiarity with, and after multiple miscarriages as well as IVF, we know this is the best choice for us as we wanted to be parents first and foremost.
We are excited about growing a relationship with you and will delight in the role you will play, whatever you choose for that role to be. You will always be why we became parents, and we will ensure the child knows their story. We believe normalizing an adoption story from a young age is essential. We will always be willing to answer any child's questions and make it an easily approached conversation. We will happily email you updates, pictures, stories, and letters regularly. We are also open to making arrangements for visits when the time is right. We are eager to build a relationship with you and maintain a healthy relationship.
We will always be grateful and know how brave and selfless you are to go through this process. Thank you again for your time and consideration.
